I believe we have forgotten our English lessons. Actually that is pretty obvious; just listen to the conversations going on around you. It sounds like most people never even had an English lesson, much less remember their lessons. Them people ain’t got no idea how to talk good irregardless of what they been learnt.

So, look again at an old English lesson. Remember state-of-being verbs? The state-of-being verbs are: is, am, are, was, and were. They reflect our “state of being.” They do not reflect any state of action. That is the stuff you were taught in elementary school. However, we sell these verbs just a bit short because they actually do reflect action. Let me explain:

If you are, you must do.
Because anything that is, does.
So if you do not, then you are not.

Are you? Of course you are. And since you are, you must do. I am not implying you are not doing something. You are doing something. You are watching television, eating too much, griping . . . but why am I telling you? Look at your day and make your own list!

So it is not that you are not doing; you are doing. You are just not doing anything productive. You are not serving anyone. You are not helping anyone. You are not really doing anything except sitting on your butt and watching the world go by: the big, cruel world that treats you so badly and keeps you broke and unhappy. Due to your lack of doing the right things, you are not really successful. You are not rich. You are not happy. Fix it!
